Video and Audio Capture

Video and audio content combine to create one of the most influential pieces of evidence any enforcement agency can hope to obtain. Together, video and audio capture can be used to rapidly convict criminals saving time and money during the legal process. Systems that capture video and audio evidence will deter and detect any unwanted behaviors. Video and audio capture can be used to preserve standards of evidence during closed door interrogations and other critical interactions between organizations and the people they serve.

Successful video and audio surveillance integrations depend on more than just cameras with audio capability. The captured video and audio files are compressed and stored separately and are traditionally very difficult and time consuming to synchronize. A video management system (VMS) with audio capability can automatically perform the work of synchronization if configured correctly. Renaissance can help by installing and configuring the proper VMS system. This leads to increased efficiency, allowing your organization to powerfully utilize combined video and audio evidence.

Camera Placements

Systems integrators need to calculate an accurate field of view to capture useful video images. The distance a camera is from the subject, and the size of the subject, are typically the fixed variables in this equation. The type of lens being used, the camera’s angle of view, and the size of the image sensor can be changed by using a different camera or lens. Capturing the subject in the field of view taking up as much of the image as possible at full resolution, leads to higher quality images. Better image quality makes identification of the subject easier. This ultimately leads to more useful surveillance.

Choosing the correct camera type, at the correct location, is an efficient use of funding. PTZ cameras, 360 degree cameras, and fish-eye cameras can replace multiple fixed cameras. Depending upon their placement, one of these cameras can provide equal quality images while saving money compared to installing several fixed cameras. Simply mounting a camera to your building won’t suffice. Accurate forethought and planning must precede the install. Renaissance can calculate the best camera placement to maximize both image quality and the efficiency of your video surveillance system.

Site Monitoring

When all the components within your video management system (VMS) are fully understood and configured your operation becomes more cost-effective, more flexible and more mobile. Motion detection, analytics, email alerts, text-messages, and telephone alerts can all be configured within modern VMS software.

Motion detection monitors events such as a customer walking in the door or someone trespassing on your grounds after hours. Accurate detection requires understanding how many pixels within an image must change to signify motion. When events are properly detected, alerts are sent to individuals automatically, whether they are on site or not.

Proper VMS configuration allows you to secure a larger area while employing a more efficient staff. Guards will no longer be required to monitor video screens to detect events, thus freeing them to be more productive. Video alerts can automatically be transmitted to mobile, remote, or stationary guards, and viewed on a PC or a PDA. Live access to video streams from any camera at your facility ensures no situation is acted upon prematurely and the resulting actions will be informed and effective. Renaissance is fully trained in all VMS products we install and can provide proper configuration to help your organization use integrated video surveillance systems to the fullest potential.
